Located in Faqra, Lebanon; this winter-summer chalet sits on an inclined land. The underground volume embraces the topography by incorporating the rough stone cladding into a set of living quarters. The visible part of the house, made of wood, sits atop a concealed stone-covered ground floor. The garden level is slightly elevated from road level, creating privacy in all parts of the house. A south-facing outdoor shaded area is supplemented by a set of louvers, protecting from the scorching summer sun and the falling snow and wind in winter. Residents can therefore stay at the chalet almost year-round, with full use of this inside-out space.
