PONT LA CHAPPELLE

BUILT-UP AREA: 360 sqm
STATUS: Concept Design

DESCRIPTION
Situated beneath the Madfoun bridge along the coastline, this project incorporates an existing semi-underground chapel. It acts as a bridge, connecting the bridge itself, the river below, the shoreline, and the concealed chapel. The house was designed to be like a chameleon, adapting to its surroundings in various ways. When viewed from the upper road, the house remains nearly invisible, blending seamlessly with the landscape until one approaches the sunken entrance. From the shoreline, the house harmoniously integrates into the natural topography. Its architectural structure is intentionally fragmented into a series of small blocks, mirroring the façade proportions found in coastal cities like Byblos. Furthermore, the concept of bridging is highlighted by external connections between the terraces and the chapel, enhancing the project’s overall cohesion.
