WADI HAMMANA RIVER HOUSE
INFO
LOCATION: Wadi Hammana, Lebanon
PROGRAM: Residential
BUILT-UP AREA: 220 sqm
STATUS: Planning application
YEAR: 2020
DESCRIPTION
Located in the Hammana Valley, in the heart of a pine tree forest, the plot overlooks the Beirut River. The proposed L-shaped building footprint is in response to privacy constraints and the original "vis-à-vis". The house embraces the landscape topography. It is fragmented into a series of stone masses, echoing the traditional Lebanese / Middle Eastern architecture. The inner wooden elements highlight the recessed volumes, which reduces the building’s overall impact. From the road’s perspective, the house appears to be sunken which creates a sense of mystery from the outside. The occupier experience enhances the perception of discovery, as we go through the house and its in-between spaces.
